Improve a post you already have
Bring an existing article in and run the Enhance passes over it, or rewrite it in a kernel's voice.
Two different things people mean by "improve my content", and two different tools.
Improve it as it is
Keep the piece, make it better: links to your own pages, outside sources, visuals, metadata. Those are the Enhance passes. Each one only adds; none rewrites your prose. In the app, open the post's Enhance panel and press the Run … now button for the pass you want.
With an agent:
Ingest the article in ./q3-launch.md into Field notes, run the internal links and external links passes on it, and show me what each one added.
By hand:
letterstory posts new --title "Q3 launch notes" --collection <id> --file ./q3-launch.md
letterstory enhance run <article-id> --pass internal_links
letterstory enhance run <article-id> --pass external_links
letterstory enhance runs --article <article-id> # what each pass added
The passes are visuals, internal_links, external_links and metadata; over MCP the call is run_enhance_pass, and get_enhance_run reads a run back. The same passes also run on every new post, from switches on the collection's Auto-Pen card (KB-303).
Nothing publishes until you say so. When you're happy: letterstory posts publish <article-id>, or the Publish panel.
Rewrite it in a voice
Keep the substance, change how it reads: submit the existing article to a kernel as its brief.
Rewrite the article in ./q3-launch.md in the Hazel voice into a new draft. Keep every fact and figure. Don't publish.
letterstory kernel write <endpoint-id> --article <article-id> --kernel <kernel-id> --file ./q3-launch.md
The kernel treats the text as source material: it keeps what it says and writes it the way that voice writes, then checks the result against its own rules. It also keeps the article's shape: headings keep their exact wording, a list stays a list, and a paragraph stays a paragraph, so a summary you wrote as prose doesn't come back as bullets. It does not add facts, because it doesn't research. If the piece needs new material, run research first (KB-503).
Both
Rewrite first, then enhance the rewrite. Say so in one sentence and the agent sequences it; by hand it's the two blocks above, in that order, on the same post.
